“This is another beautiful museum in a castle on the shores of lake Thun. What is really special about this museum, is that its interiour are unchanged since 1900. When visiting it feels as if the inhabitans could come back anytime and continue their everyday life. The museum closes sometimes in October and opens usually in May. ”

“The St. Beatus Caves are a very impressive site to visit on those rainy days. You can walk about 900 meters into the mountain and get to see many great rock formations. Make sure you take a jacket with you, even in summer. it is always around 8 degrees in the caves. Best is to take the ship from Oberhofen Pier to Sundlauene and then hike about 25 minutes to the caves. Alternatively you may take the bus (free of charge with your Panorama Card) or the car to Beatushöhlen. There is as well a small museum where you get to see some mountain crystals. ”

“The castle is dated from 1200 and has had several different ownerships. The museum is showing the history of his past inhabitants. The exhibition gives you a good idea of how the Bernese upper class life style must have been sometimes inbetweeek the 16th and the 19th century. There is a really nice park attached to it. It is perfect for walking and lake watching. There are a few really big and old trees and the park is well maintained. (The castle closes for the winter season, closed on mondays as well)”
