Helsinki is the smallest city ever to have had the privilege of hosting the Summer Olympics. The buildings that were constructed in Helsinki for the 1952 Summer Olympics have been well preserved and are internationally renowned for their cohesive and minimalistic architecture. The Swimming Stadium is situated in the middle of a natural rocky park just to the northeast of the Olympic Stadium. The first outdoor swimming complex in Finland, it comprises three separate pools.
