This subterranean bar is located where Hearst used to print their newspaper—it’s where the San Francisco Chronicle used to have its printing press—so there are typewriter fonts all over the walls and it has an old newsstand type of feel. In terms of aesthetic and decor, it’s one of the best places to wind up. It’s in the downtown area, so Saturdays and Sundays are the best time to go. After work it’s always packed. The area opposite the bar is the best place to get a seat and see the band.
Tips från lokalbefolkningen
Amazing cocktails, and cool vibes with occasional jazz concerts and almost a New York vibe.
Local Edition is more than just a cocktail bar, it is a place to relax with friends after ... and perhaps most importantly, a connection to the history of San Francisco.

“Enjoy a menu of labor-intensive libations served by highly skilled (and dapperly-dressed) bartenders at the city's original nuevo speakeasy, which first opened its unmarked door back in 2005 and ushered in a whole new era of SF craft cocktails. Both a reservation and password are required to enter this secretive corner space, home to its own set of “House Rules” and hidden exit tunnels. The location has actually been dolling out spirits since the late 19th century.”
