Greenwich Village is a hub of popular cafes, bars and restaurants. Jazz clubs and Off-Broadway Theaters can also be found amid the brownstones and New York University buildings. At its heart is Washington Square Park, where people mingle around the central plaza. Rainbow flags attest to the…

Beautiful cobblestone streets, tons of cafes, restaurants, comedy clubs, music venues. This area feels like you're walking through a movie set. Walk through and get lost in all the small streets and alleys.

Another great NYC neighborhood with its own vibe and small shops. Exquisite cuisine and hidden gems like the world famous cronut. Dominique Ansel Bakery which also makes an amazing cookie shot glass with warm fresh milk. 189 Spring Street (between Sullivan and Thompson) New York, NY 10012

“For a look back at what the neighborhood was like in the day, watch the movie Downtown 81. Like many if not all Manhattan neighborhoods, the EV has seen a lot of gentrification from the days when the so-called "Alphabet City" lived at the fringes. Today the EV is coming back from the COVID pandemic with signs of flourishing spring. The neighborhood has 33 community gardens or about a third of NYC's 90-plus publicly owned gardens which are community operated, volunteer affairs. Restaurants and bars are reopening. There are bookstores of note and some art galleries and small theater companies. Many people are drawn here because of its punk stories, the former triumphs that were Wigstock and the East Village art scene, and of course the grunge fashion embodied in stores like Trash and Vaudeville and Search and Destroy. For the old EV, look past Starbuck's and go instead to get your coffee at Porto Rico or your Italian goods at Russo's instead of Whole Foods. Keep your eyes and ears open for what's going on in the park on a given warm afternoon. Or head to East River Park and take in the view of also rapidly gentrified Brooklyn (Williamsburg) right across the water. ”

“Little Italy is ONLY a short 8-12 minute walk!!! This cool neighborhood welcomes a heavy tourist crowd to its high concentration of souvenir shops and traditional Italian eateries and bakeries. Tenement buildings, once home to the immigrants who settled the area in the late 1800s, line the narrow streets. Mulberry Street, the main thoroughfare, turns into a pedestrian mall on summer weekends. The area celebrates its heritage each September at the busy San Gennaro festival. Get a coffee and cannoli at Ferrara's, and find a stoop to sit back and watch the world go by, like a real New Yorker!”

“This place is a dive - the owners are from New Orleans and the drinks are cheap. It's also the official New Orleans Saints bar in the city, so it's always packed on Sundays. Go for cheap drinks and a casual vibe.”
