A deep melancholy. It's Mediterranean's best kept secret. Brigitte Bardot, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton... Varosha (the district in Famagusta) (now it is called ghost town) was so popular that most of the celebrities were spending their holidays there. Of course this was before the division of Cyprus in 1974. Now it is left alone to its own despair, surrounded with Turkish army, and trespassers risk death. The hotels are still there, desolated, and they could be seen from the beach. It is one of the saddest views about history of Cyprus.
