Based in the picturesque village of Ballater, in the heart of the Dee Valley, Dee Valley Confectioners are a long established and well known family company producing in traditional hand-made sweets. Established by the Skene brothers, Alfie and Harry, in 1965, the actual sweets have hardly changed over the years and the names are recognised by generations of Scottish people. Hand-made boilings are a speciality, in traditional flavours such as market candy, bullseyes, humbugs, soor plooms and Edinburgh rock. Original open top copper pans are still used to produce the best and most natural results. Please check the website and/or Facebook page for opening hours and other relevant details.

This is both a sweet shop selling all the old fashioned favourites and a small factory where you can view the whole process .... you just have to be there at the right time!! Remember ‘Granny Sookers’ ? Soor Plooms’ ? Lucky Tatties? Pineapple chunks? This is the place!
