Newgrange is one of the finest examples, not only in Ireland, but in Western Europe, of the type of tomb known as a passage grave. You can visit Newgrange from the Bru Na Boinne Visitor Centre on the south side of the river Boyne, clear directions are given in Slane.

Older than the pyramids, located in the heart of the Boyne Valley, a wonder of Neolithic construction. There is an interpretative centre and cafe. Constructed in the stone age and aligned to sunrise at the winter solstice, definitely worth a visit

Older than the Egyptian pyramids, mystical and interesting Irish historical site. Park at the museum, the Newgrange bus will bring you out to the site. Nice little coffee shop.
