Classic, affordable spot for poboys, gumbo & other traditional New Orleanian fare. Bonus: it's right next to Bayou St. John which is a great spot for an evening walk.

people think this place is touristy and i guess they're right, but this is definitely the best shrimp po-boy in the city and it's not even close

Located in the Bayou St. John neighborhood, this classic New Orleans hangout has been serving up an array of po-boys since 1911. My personal favorite is the surf n' turf po-boy, which is filled with fried shrimp and roast beef with lashings of gravy. They also have excellent gumbo.
