On March 15, 1781 the largest, most hotly-contested battle of the Revolutionary War's Southern Campaign was fought at the small North Carolina backcountry hamlet of Guilford Courthouse.
Great place to go for a walk. There is also a lot of military history to see too.
Where the American patriots, lead by General Nathanael Greene, kicked enough British butt to cause them to have to surrender at their next battle.....at Yorktown, Virginia. General Greene is the namesake for "Greensborough".....which was later founded in 1808...
