The Crypta Balbi is part of the complex of Museo Nazionale Romano. The site takes up a whole city block in the historical center of Rome, secluded by the streets of Via delle Botteghe Oscure, Via dei Polacchi, Via dei Delfini and Via Caetani.The exhibition hosted in the rooms of the Crypta Balbi illustrates the different layers that built up the history of the site across the centuries. The section Archaeology and History of an Urban Landscape retraces the history of the complex since antiquity until the 20th century.

Artifacts from the excavation of a city block in ancient Rome. At times one can visit the excavations out back. Good museum for kids.
