BEST LOCAL FOOD - Charlie the butchers has been a staple or generations. The local dish here is "Beef on Weck". This is a juicy roast beef sandwich piled high on a kimmelweck roll which is a roll with plenty of crusty salt on top with a little caraway seeds. Add horseradish to complete the delicious combination if you care to. This place is a order at the counter and pay type of place but, it is an experience.

Founded in 1914 and ran by four generations of Charlies so far, Charlie the Butcher is a Buffalo staple. I think their food is average, but if you are spending a lot of time in the area, and have nothing better to do, it might be worth a visit just so you can say you ate there. The rice in the rice pudding isn’t cooked well and crunchy in the center and the prime rib is average and somewhat bland, lacking in flavor. They do make a decent burger however. They also have outdoor seating and sell homemade pies. They also have a smaller location in Elmwood Village.
