Only a pleasant 25 minutes walk from home along Castle Street. See it’s many unique, original town houses and listed cottages with several of the them honouring blue plaques.
Cared for by English Heritage, a visit to Portchester Castle makes for a great day out for all, with plenty too see and explore without going inside the main castle building and up the spiral staircase to views over the Solent.
Within the inner bailey you will Find the beautiful St Mary’s Church with tea rooms serving from 10-4pm and small children’s play area.
The castle is very popular with dog walkers and a favourite spot for crabbing. Plenty of room for picnicking and ball games within the safety of the inner bailey so no need to worry about balls going into the road.
Across the other side of the castle field area, towards the A27 is a newly updated playground with castle climbing structure, zip wire, swings including baby/toddler and disabled and roundabout.
