When the weather is nice, you can barely see the grass due to the throngs of people lounging around. Luckily, the park was recently renovated and is big enough that you're bound to find a spot you like. The southwest corner is good for a panoramic view of the city skyline (and usually far enough away from the folks enjoying their herbal refreshments on the northern slope). There's also a nice kid's playground, although it's geared more towards older kids.

Bring a picnic and a blanket and stay a while! With expansive views of downtown, this is where San Franciscans come to sun bathe and meet up with friends. Locals call it “Dolores Beach.”

The center of all open-air hangouts and parties in San Francisco. After defeating the 1906 fire the Mission poured into Dolores Park. The owner of Anchor Steam brewery brought beer and liquor from his storehouses in Daly City and the citizens and horses partied for three days. Dolores Park still hosts parties each day from Friday to Sunday. It's a true San Francisco landmark.

Great place hang like a local on warm weather Saturdays and Sundays. Stop by Bi-Rite Market on 18th to pick up a sandwich or drink.

As you sit and gaze at the city skyline and the people who make this place uber strange and wonderful, ponder that you're sitting on a 19thc Jewish cemetery. There might even be painted pod circles under foot from the Pandemic. ponder that.
