Olana House built on a hilltop with a spectacular view overlooking the Hudson River south of Hudson City. Designed by the famous painter Frederic E. Church ( Hudson River School). Visit even when it is closed, for the view. Nice place for a picnic.

Breathtaking old estate on the Hudson River. You will need to cross the Rip Van Winkle Bridge to get here. The estate museum itself is spectacular, as are the grounds and many hiking trails.

Drive over the river towards the town of Hudson (which you should visit) and you'll be left wondering what is the castle-looking structure popping through the lush landscape of the Catskill hills. Olana State Historic Site is a must see. 250 acres of scenic land, beautiful views all around, hiking trails (great place to bring a pup), museum and just a magnificent park not to be missed. Great for all ages and all seasons
