Looking for local railroad history look no further. This trestle opened in 1909. “The Western Pacific Railroad (now part of the Union Pacific) built the Feather River Route across the Sierra Nevada in 1909 to complete a San Francisco Bay Area–Salt Lake City route, competing with the Southern Pacific Railroad's line over Donner Pass.” Wikipedia

One of the tallest railroad trestles in the country just west of Portola on County Road A40 a mile east of Clio, the Willow Creek trestle is a sight to behold!
