This is the quintessential American diner. It's been run by the same family since it opened in 1935, right on Market St. where the Castro meets the Mission. Your waitress could be the founder's daughter, Sheila. Their hours are 8 am to 3 pm and 8 pm to 3 am. The strawberry raspberry waffles are da bomb.

Diner (OPEN until 3AM!). Not the best food in the world, but great cozy feel - typical old-school diner. It has been here for 80 years, so lots of street cred. 1 minute walk.

This is one of San Francisco's heritage restaurants. It's like stepping into a time machine to a 1950's diner. The current owner, Sheila, inherited the restaurant from her father who bought and opened the place in 1935. Great place to grab an American breakfast in the morning.
