This is where you will find Captain Cook's landing place at Kurnell, which has also become a stage for Aboriginal protest due to what this day represents to the traditional owners of the land. Travel beyond the Visitor's Centre to Cape Solander where you will often see whales migrating up and down the coast. When the waves are massive, there is a surf break here called 'Ours' where legends such as Mick Fanning and Kelly Slater have been known to make cameos.

Whale Watching is between June and October. Humpbacks, minkes, southern right whales and pygmy killer whales - not to mention plenty of dolphins - can be seen from the purpose built platform at Cape Solander. Cars have access for $8 all day. Bate Bay, Cronulla was once locally known as Whale Bay, due to the large number of whales that congregated in the bay. Whales can also be seen from Boat Harbour, a private beach with 4 wheel drive access, entry is $20

One of Sydney's best whale watching spots. June/July is the best time to see humpback whales as they migrate to warmer waters.

Great drive to spot some whales and do some walking. Even without seeing any whales can still appreciate the spectacular views.
