Trapani är den större staden i området (c.a 70 000 inv.). Det tar c:a 30 min. att gå från lägenheten längs stranden in till gamla stan där trevliga restauranger och butiker omgärdas av historisk arkitektur. Ett annat tips är att tidigt en morgon besöka fiskmarknaden , ett bra sätt att fördjupa dig i atmosfären av en siciliansk stad! Eller ta en promenad till Villa Margherita Park för att njuta av lite grönska. Vill man ytterligare variera sin vistelse är en båttur ut i den Egadiska skärgården ett hett tips. Levanzo, Maretimo och Favignana heter tre av 3 öarna där båtar utgår från Trapani varje dag. Det kostar runt 45 euro tur/retur för två. Ett sista tips är för er som gillar goda viner. Ett besök till grannstaden/vindestriktet Marsala som tar 45 min med bil. Om ni inte känner till staden kanske ni känner till dess typiska produkt - Marsala, det berömda vinet med samma namn. Om du aldrig har smakat det förut är det här er chans. Många stånd på marknaden anordnar provningar.

Ancient Erice can be reached by car, cablecar from Trapani or you can hike up the mountain!

I suggest you to visit the wonderful middle age village of Erice with the castle a magnificent view and many good restaurants (especially Gli Archi di San Carlo or Osteria di Venere). I suggest you to go to the “Maria Gramatico confectionery” (in the main road) to try her magnificent almond’s pastry. Erice it’s accessible by car or by "cable car" from Trapani, with an incredible panorama..

Erice watches over the port of Trapani from the legendary mountain of Eryx, situated a giddy 750m above sea level. It's a mesmerising walled medieval town whose mountain charm is enhanced by the unpredictable weather that can take you from sunny afternoon to foggy evening in the space of a few minutes. The town has sweeping views of the sea and the valley below, and is home to Sicily's most famous pastry shop, Maria Grammatico. Erice has a notorious history as a centre for the cult of Venus ( Astarte to the Phoenicians and Aphrodite to the Greeks). The mysterious Elmyans claimed descent from Venus' famous trojan son, Aeneas, who mentions the sanctuary as a holy landmark in the Aeneid, Acolytes here practised the peculiar ritual of sacred prostitution, with the prostitutes accommodated in the temple itself. Despite countless invasions, the sacred site long remained inviolate – no need to guess why!
