A nice 20 minute scenic walk to get there from the airbnb. Alternatively a 4 minute drive. Beautiful park with plenty of open spaces. Picnic tables down by the river are a great option if you wish to bring some lunch with you.

If you want a picnic place in the park under the trees this is for you. For the more adventurous, a track will lead you to the river below then over a bridge and a steep ascent up Mount Parihaka to the war memorial and lookout over the city at the top.

Historic park with the river running through ... feed the ducks or climb to the top of Parahaki or walk through connecting bush tracks to the Whangarei Falls, A H Reed Park (canopy bridge) or back towards the Town Basin via the aquatic centre and enjoy the boardwalk through the mangroves
