This monument to SF firefighters also happens to be the summit of a glute-burning 400 steps. If you want to do something active and just kind of move your body, there’s a narrow staircase that starts at the base of the Levi Strauss headquarters and winds up to Coit Tower. I wouldn’t recommend trying to sprint these stairs. Once at the top, there is a grassy knoll that is perfect for doing some plank and core work. Bring some pocket change, and take the elevator all the way up to the top of Coit Tower. There’s a snack shop where you can get a Gatorade to gulp down, and the views are pretty amazing.
Tips från lokalbefolkningen
Coit Tower, a slender white concrete column rising from the top of Telegraph Hill, has been an emblem of San Francisco’s skyline since its completion in 1933, a welcoming beacon to visitors and residents alike.
Fun location from which to visit North Beach, a classic San Francisco Italian neighborhood with great cafes and restaurants, iconic views, interesting old architecture.
You can also check out the Filbert Steps, North Beach, and Chinatown from here!

“Alcatraz was the site of the first lighthouse in the Western United States but became a federal penitentiary from 1934-1963, housing famous convicts such as Al Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly. Now, this once infamous prison island is part of the Bay Area’s 80,000-acre Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Located one-and-a-half miles from Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz is one of the city's most popular attractions. A visit to the island includes a tour of the cell house where visitors can see where the prisoners lived. Although the last inmates were transferred off the island in 1963, the main prison block with its steel bars, claustrophobic (9 x 5-foot) cells, mess hall, library and "dark holes," where recalcitrant languished in inky blackness, is still structurally intact.”
