The forest surrounding the famous Meiji Shrine was developed in Harajuku about 100 years ago. Some 700 types of trees and other plants are now protected here in a shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji. Dozens of trees, fauna, and flora have been preserved here. It’s a peaceful space in the city, one where the noise of the nearby streets gradually vanishes. Within the Meiji Shrine, you can also access the exclusive inner gardens, which feature even more stunning displays of nature. That requires a ¥500 fee.
