The closest place to get Gifford's ice cream, which is possibly the best ice cream in the world. Pepper's has a limited selection, but if you can't find a flavor there, you might find it at The Log Cabin Restaurant just up the road which also sells Gifford's from a window. Or from any number of small cafes and shops on the island including the Quietside Cafe and Gott's Store in Southwest Harbor. To get a full Maine experience, you must try some Grapenut ice cream--no it's not a gimmick like lobster ice cream, it really is my personal favorite and is a well-loved flavor around the state.
