Starline is a really fun bar in Oakland, a great place to meet up after work. I was excited when they decided to open up in the mornings, too, as a tea parlor with some snacks and all these really fun tea-based drinks, like tea-based horchata and Earl Grey steamed milk with vanilla. I feel like Oakland really needed a place like this—a spot where people can gather in the morning and hang out.

This is a great bar and music venue with nightly events. Don't let the location and surroundings fool you. Check it out for yourself. Also recommended for a date

Old, restored cocktail bar with a beautiful wrap around bar. It has a cool hipster vibe in a chic surrounding.

This bar always has something going on. They have an upstairs that usually has a band playing or some type of dj..sometimes big name artist drop in last minute, so check out the schedule. downstairs they have a another room where a dj plays music and then another room for the bar. great spot if you want variety

Great drinks and a small culinarily respected gastropub menu (sexy corn dogs and a killer grilled cheese/tomato soup combo). Diverse clientele who come to sit at the booths, stand at the bar, or kill time before a show in the back or upstairs. A true locals place for the clued-in looking for something classier than a dive but nothing too posh.
