Get on your bike in the morning, cross the island at the Elephant road (first T junction South of Malee Beach) then drive down to the old town to check the quaint shops and breakfast by the sea.

Koh Lanta's old town on the east coast is worth a visit. Very different to the west coast. Quiet main street with some local tourist shops and some good restaurants on stilts over the sea with great views of the local islands. Best to arrive before 8pm to eat as this town does not stay open late. After 10pm most places are closing up.

Lanta Old Town was originally a sea gypsy settlement. Over the decades it transformed into a village influenced by trade. Now you can enjoy many shops, restaurants and homes built on stilts above the sea level. This is great when the tide is in and also overlooks other islands and the mainland allowing breathtaking views.

Old town An authentic and charming Chinese fishing village on the east coast, with lots of nice, quiet restaurants sitting on stilts over the water, enjoying views of the dramatic sea views here. Worth a trip, as much for the beautiful drive through the interior of the island. You can do this on your own with a bike, motorbike or car or just hire a tuk tuk/taxi. (approxim. 6km)
