Well run and consistently good food. Just as good for lunch by the fire in the bar or something a bit more formal in the dining room.

We love the main bar, especially the table in front of the huge walk in fireplace, lovely all year but particularly magical on a cold winter's day. The Blue Lion has a timeless feel, with beautiful flagstone floors, old benches and settles, and a menu that is truly fabulous (best scallops I've eaten). We never fail to visit when we're in the Dales. My favourite Dales pub/restaurant www.thebluelion.co.uk
