A great place to explore Mayan Ruins. What makes Coba different that other sites is that it is not a single site, but a large group of sites connected to the central pyramid by over 16 Mayan ceremonial white roads or scabeob. All the white roads lead from one settlement to the man pyramind, Nohoch Mul. Coba was ignored for many years because of its location. It was first discovered in the 1800's but due to dense jungle, war, and lack of funds, it was difficult to excavate. To this day, Coba is still largely unexcavated, meaning there is still so much to discover. Walking, the tour will take you about 2.5 hours. We recommend renting a bike, about 1.5 hours. Or a Mayan limo (a chauffeured tricycle) will allow you to sit and take in the sites, also a great idea if you have little ones.
